We wanted to make you aware of a recent update to the Dress Code
section of the NLCA Handbook. Each
student is receiving a copy of the update and it will be published in the
online version of the handbook as soon as possible. Please note the changes under the “Hair Style” bullet point for both males
and females.
Female Students
Grades K-4 thru 12th
o
Hair color must be a natural color (e.g. no
pink, orange, green, purple, blue, etc.).
No severe color contrasts.
o
Extreme hairstyles, including but not limited to
dreadlocks, mohawks, and fauxhawks, are prohibited. Undercuts are permissible; however, female
students must conceal their undercuts with longer hair while at school or
attending school functions. If in doubt,
check with the principal first.

Hair must be well-groomed and a reasonable
length
o
Reasonable length for males means hair must
remain above the collar, and must not fall below the ears or eyebrows.
o
No unnatural hair color (e.g. pink, orange,
green, purple, blue, etc.). No severe
color contrasts.
o
Extreme hairstyles, including but not limited
to, shaves, lines/designs, dreadlocks, mohawks, and fauxhawks, are
prohibited. A single part line is
acceptable.
o
Undercuts and fades are permissible; however,
the sides and back may not be cut lower than a size two (2) guard. Manbuns, extreme spikes and ponytails are not
permitted. If in doubt, check with the
principal first.
