School Opening Information ~ Updated September 17, 2020

Featured snippet from the web

Below you will find some information for our return to school on September 10, 2020, please keep in mind that guidelines and regulations change frequently and we may have to change our plans.
  • School drop off will begin at 7:45.  You will receive instruction on which door your child will enter the building in to have their temperature checked each morning.  Only students eating breakfast will go to the cafeteria.  All other students will go to their classroom.  Drop off time will last until 8:10. Class will begin at 8:15.
  • Pick up and drop off instructions have been sent to your email.  School vans and public bus students will be dismissed at 2:30 and parent pick up will begin at 2:50.  Pre-K students will be dismissed at noon, and a van will run to Friends R Fun to drop off students.
  • Each student will have their temperature taken prior to entering school of a morning.
  • Volleyball and all after school activities have been suspended for the 2020 fall season.
  • There is no Lions' Den (after-school care) this year.  We are having extra cleaning and sanitizing done in the evenings, and the campus must be empty of students and teachers.
  • Each desk will have a plastic 3-part guard on them.
  • Masks are not required in the classroom, as long as social distancing can be observed, but they will be used in the hallways and in high traffic areas. Every student needs to wear a mask when checking into school for the day, and during evening departure.  We will provide them if they do not have one.  Students are permitted to wear masks anytime throughout the day and may be required to wear them during certain times. *Should our county change colors on the state map, we may be required to wear facial coverings during the school day.  We will comply with the state regulations.
  • Masks do need to be worn on the school vans, and temperatures will be checked prior to students getting on the van of a morning and evening.
  • Lunch and recess will occur by class.  Recess may not follow lunch, but every class will get a recess.  Lunch may be served in the cafeteria, old gym, and outside.  Students will get to leave their classroom to eat lunch.
  • We suggest brown bags, or plastic bags for packed lunches.  Disposable lunch containers are preferred.  If you cannot use disposable bags, please keep the lunchbox small enough to fit inside the drawstring backpack.
  • Elementary students need to use a drawstring backpack if at all possible.  They are smaller and make it easier to hang in personal spaces. *The guidelines suggest that we have individual space for each student.  Doing your part to help us with this would by greatly appreciated as we have limited space.
  • Students that have an electronic device need to bring them to school each day so that we can help educate them on using the programs we will use should we need to go to remote learning at any time during the school year.
  • Water fountains will be decommissioned.  Students are encouraged to bring bottled water, or water in a container that has a lid.
  • Hand sanitizing stations have been placed outside of each classroom, as well as hand sanitizer in the rooms.  Students will use this and wash their hands frequently throughout the day.
  • Touchless water faucets and soap dispensers have been installed in each restroom.
  • Chapel will be held virtually in each classroom.  Teachers will connect to the zoom meeting so that we can all worship together and be taught the same lesson each week.
** PLEASE NOTE THE POST BELOW THIS ONE (Schoology, Seesaw., and Zoom)**

Working Together

If you are sending an electronic device to school with your child, or have a device to use at home with them, please download the Schoology  for grades 1-12, and Seesaw for pre-K and Kindergarten.  They will be taught to access Zoom.    These are the sites we will be using if we need to go to remote/virtual learning.

If they bring the device to school with the apps downloaded and ready to use (account set up), we will help them to learn how to navigate the sites.  Thank you for working with us to ensure that your child has a successful school year!
