Dear NLCA Families,
We are in complete cooperation with the Nicholas County
Board of Education and the State of West Virginia in combatting the situation
we are facing. Governor Justice
announced today that schools will be closed “for as long as we have to close
them.”
Nicholas County Schools will close today at 4:00 PM. The following statement was released: “All school sponsored
events after 4pm today are cancelled. This includes participating in the St
Patrick's Day parade and student recognition at the March 16th Board of
Education Meeting. Recognition will be rescheduled.”
At NLCA, we have been preparing for this. Today, we have sent home packets for the
students to complete. We have given them
work that would compensate for two weeks off from school. Please
be patient. We are working diligently to
help our students remain successful in their academics.
Remember, all staff email addresses can be found on our website. We are available to answer questions and
help you when you need it. We will
remain in contact with you through phone calls and our web page during this
interruption.
Thank you for your understanding. We are lifting our community,
state and nation up in prayer.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lucky
“Thou will keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee: because he
trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord
forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is
everlasting strength:” Isaiah 26:3-4

Important Information
New Life Christian Academy is committed to providing a safe learning environment for our children. We are prayerfully considering our actions concerning the Coronavirus Disease 19. As of today, March 12, 2020, we are continuing with our regularly scheduled school session, and school-related activities. We will keep you informed of all decisions and wanted to provide the below information for you. Please join us in prayer for our community, state, and nation.
Thank you
The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) is working closely with the Office of Governor Jim Justice, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, and other state agencies and organizations to ensure counties and schools have the latest information regarding Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19).
To Date
The WVDE has communicated with each of the 55 counties and the West Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind regarding proper protocols.
County school superintendents are directed to collaborate closely with their local health departments, review plans for infectious disease outbreaks and to re-examine their emergency communications plans.
The WVDE has reminded counties to exercise preventative measures including:
requesting that custodians diligently clean facilities daily;
advising all school and county personnel, and students be very vigilant in handwashing;
reinforcing respiratory hygiene practices; and
staying home when children, educators, and school personnel are sick.
Organized Activities
Families are encouraged to continue their everyday activities.
There are no plans to cancel any of the professional learning sessions and student activities sponsored by the WVDE at this time.
Most athletic and student-based events are organized at the county- and school-level, however, the WVDE is not aware of any plans to cancel these activities.
We will update this website and its Facebook and Twitter feeds as new information is made available.
The safety and health of our school community is of utmost importance, and the WVDE and the WVBE will take all necessary steps to safeguard against interruptions to the learning process caused by illness.
